1 Willayî basî kitsek dekem, ke îtir le jiyanim da, hîç/ hîç/ hîç/ hîç kesêkim be qed ew xoș newîstûwe-w.
Well, I will tell you about a girl, in my whole life I have not loved anyone as much as I loved her.
2 Basî xoșewîstî ew kitse dekem ke duwayî, le axil da pêk negêyștîn û ke basî ew dekem.
I will talk about the love of that girl, who, in the end, I did not get together with.
3 Șaz/ șazde salim temen bû, eh/ le Bokan ke ew kitsem/ ew kitsem dî. Be rastî erê/ ye/ yekemîn car ke eger ew kitsem dî yanî, her mêșkim be raz/ her qifłî kird.
I was sixteen years old, when I saw this girl in Bokan. Really the first time I saw this girl, my brain just stopped.
4 Yanî ewendem/ ewendem pê ciwan bû, ewendem hate diłimewe, her/ be qewlî hîn dełê zor zor zor zor șitêkî, beyan nakirê be rastî.
I found her so beautiful, she was so perfect for me, it is like they say she was very very very very something/ it really can’t be described.
5 Bełam, herdûkman, ew teqrîben biłêyn du salekîș de min tsikoletir bû.
But between the two of us, she was about two years younger than me.
6 Bełam îtir, așqî bûm û teq/ teqrîben biłêm ḥewt ḥeșt mangekî pê tsû ta wekû/ ta wekû ciwabî damewe ta wekû bûyne wekû refîqêk, ya wekû be layî zimanî xoman biłêm wekû dostêk, îtir duwayî ewekane ke bûyne, bûyne dost û hîn,
But I fell in love with her and about seven or eight months passed until she reciprocated, that’s how we became friends, or if we are to say it in our language we became lovers, then we became that, we became lovers,
7 kurrekî refîqim hebû, nawî *** bû, kiçî pûrî ew bû.
I had a friend, a boy, he was called ***, she was his aunt’s daughter.
8 Ca ew binemałeye-ș binemałeyekî be ḥisab ke biłêyn dewłemend bû, bełam ême-ș binemałeyekî tozek feqîr bûn.
And that family was, how shall I say, a rich family, but we were a bit of a poor family.
9 Duway ewekane, îtir heta s/ be kurdewarî xoman biłêm heta sazim kird û heta eyn bû zorî pê çû.
Then, until I, as we say in Kurdish, I arranged the things with her, a lot of time went by.
10 Qetim bawer nedekird, ke îtir min ew kitse cuwabim datewe-w yan bedbextî-w șorewerîm zor le ser çêșa, heta cuwabî damewe. Dê, cuwabî damewe-û zor zor zor zor.
I didn’t believe at all that this girl would return my feelings, I suffered a lot of misfortune and misery about her, until she reciprocated. She reciprocated, and/ very very very much.
11 Wila îtir, yêkemîn car ke îtir yêk/ yêktirîman bînî le ser rêgay medrese îtir pêkewe qerarman dana-w, min-îș mindał bûm îtir aqlim bew șitane {nede}, îșq û așqî-w yan meselen, ew șitanem nedezanî.
And the first time we met on the way to school, we had agreed on a meeting time, and I was a kid, I had no grasp of such things like love and the like, I didn’t know about these things.
12 Bełam pêkewe destman xiste naw destî yekewe-w le kûçekanî layî, le Bokan le kûçekanî layî Bêhdarî destman xiste nêw destî yekewe-w zor zor zor, teqrîben biłêm nîw saʕetek pêkewe gerrayîn û.
But together we held hands on the streets in Bokan, we would hold hands and for at most, say about half an hour, we walked around together.
13 Duway ewekanê, kitse zor zor zor detirsa-w emin-îș emin diłxoșîm deda-w m-kut: “le çî detirsî?
And after that the girl was very afraid. And I would console her saying “what are you afraid of?
14 Ho be ew perrekey polîs bê bimangirê, hîn dekeyn, herdûkman razîyn û lêkman mare dekin.
If the police come and arrest us, if they do that, we will give our consent and they will marry us.”
15 Ca ew serdeme-j le Êran qanûnêk hebû, ke deyanku ege kiç û kurr pêkewe bicîrên beyêkyan mare dekin.
In that time there was a law in Iran, that if a girl and a boy were seen together, they would have to then be married to each other.
16 Wela yêkemîn car, îtir awa nîv saʕetek pêkewe bûn. Qise-w ștî waman kir.
So the first time, we were together like this for half an hour. We talked and such things, and then she said I will go back home.
17 Wela îtir ew kutî derromewe îtir ba daykim pêm nezanê-w hîn nebê, bełam to-j layî kes bas meke-w, lew core qisayan, dey kutim zor tsak e.
My mother doesn’t know about this, but you too, don’t mention it to anyone. She said things like this, and I said that it’s fine.
18 Sibeynê ew wextane seʕet, ye/ dwazde-w nîw șitey wa eger le medrese ege merexes kiray, qerarman dana le filan șon yêktirî bibînînwe.
The next day, the same time, about half past twelve or so, when she got out of school, we agreed we would meet at a certain place (the next day).
19 Baș, okey, wela îtir royștime-w îtir ew șewe min heta beyanî xewim lê nekewit.
Good, okay, and then I went back home, then that night I couldn’t sleep until the morning.
20 Sibeynekey, çûmewe bo lay, zor rawestam, {exd û carim} kird, hîç kitsem nedî.
The next day, I went there, I stayed a long time, I waited for her, I didn’t see the girl.
21 Zor naraḥet bûm, îti lewane bû, be kurdî xweman biłêm lewane bû diłim bitoqê zor. Kutim dwênê ke qiseman kirdûwe, qerarman danawe-w, bo nehatûwe?
Well, I was very distressed, I say I was about to, as we say in Kurdish, my heart was about to explode. I thought, yesterday we talked and agreed to meet, why didn’t she come?
22 Weła êwarekey, min çûme layî małî/ małî bawkî, ke lewê çûme ewêkanê kitsem her nedî. Weła îtir, teqrîben çwar pênc rojêk guzeran zor naraḥet bûm.
So in the evening, I went by her father’s house, I went there and still didn’t see the girl. And then for about four or five days I was very distressed.
23 Her fik/ fikrim lewe dekird û ew, biłê xo baș e, taze legełî așna bûm, taze bibûynete refîq û xo min hîç xeta ya hîç șitêk le xom șik nabem. Hîç șitêkim nekirduwe, bo çî yan çî bûbê?
I kept thinking that, well fine, I have only just met her, we were just friends, and I have not made a single mistake, I am not doubting myself at all. I haven’t done anything, what has happened?
24 Dê bełê weła îtir, kake duwayî çwar pênc rojêkî pê çû, zengî lê daya bo małî bawkim.
Then after four or five days, she called my father’s house.
25 Ew bo ewelîn car zengî lê da bo małî bawkim, xușkim telefonekey hełgirtibû, min-îș jimarey malekeyanim dezanî.
She was calling my father’s house for the first time, and my sister answered, I knew the number of their house too.
26 Êsta-ș her awa biłêm ke le berim e w legeł xușkim qiseyî kirdbûy kutbûy, “małî filankes e?”
Even now I know it by heart, and she talked to my sister and said is it the house of this person?
27 Îtir, ew kate ême mendał bûyn û ew șitaneman nedezanî.
Well at that time we were kids and we didn’t know about these things.
28 Her corêk bê ke wîstbîy xeberek corêk be min bide. Wilayî îtir min-îș êwarekey, taze ew deme-ș telifonî dicîtał û șitî wa dahatibû.
Whichever way she decided, she wanted to let me know. Really, me too, that evening, and then digital telephones and such things had just arrived.
29 Wełe-m êwarekey çûmewe małê-w, xușkim pêy zanî, bełam qetim le bîr natsê, ew be hîç be rûy xoy nehêna-w dengê-șî nekird û, kutî/ kutî ***** weła kurrekî refîqit zengî lê dawe…
Well that evening I went back home, my sister knew, I’ll never forget it, she didn’t want to show it on her face, she didn’t say anything either, she said “***** a boy friend of yours called…
