S-050 Qoshachay, Iran

1 Be her ṣûret, ewane ke maweyek pêkewe debin, yektiryan xoş dewê-w qerar dadenên û ke bełê bisazên.
However, those who are together for a period, will love each other, and make the decision to live together.
2 Kurre, kitse be kurrey dełê: binêre serim û,
The boy, the girl tells the boy: send to ask for my hand, and
 3 Çen keyxuda saz debin.
A number of gentlemen become ready.
4 Eh/ keyxudayan denêrê lay m/ małî babî kitsey û
Er/ the gentlemen notify the family of the girl, and
5 Çen keyxuda detsin lewê qise deken, ke bełê eme demanewê bibîne xizim û ege be layeqman dezanî eme pêman xoş e xizmayetîy êwe bikeyn.
A number of gentlemen go and say that er/ we, in fact, intend to be related, and if you consider us worthy of it, we shall be happy to become relatives.
6 Bełê, ew qisane detsin [dza redd-u] bedeł dekrên-û
Yes, so, such words are exchanged, and
 7 Tsen keyxuda detsin, dadenîşin-û
A number of gentlemen go, sit, and
8 Lewê-ş eger bab be ṣełaḥ bizanê, bo ewe dełê zor baş e, be ṣełaʕ-îş nezanê, dełê nexêr na weła.
And if the father sees it as being favourable, he will say: alright, and if he does not see it as positive, he will say: no, never.
 9 Karekey têk dedatewe-w
He ruins the attempt, and
10 Îḥtîmal e be barî eweł kar têk biçêtewe, welî barî dûwem ke bizanê he/ her legeł kitsey delê-w kitse cuwab nadatewe,
It’s likely that the first attempt will fail, but for the second time when he realises that he continually talks to the girl, and the girl does not respond
11 cuwabî babî nadatewe-w legeł kurrey zor sûr e le ser qisey xoy.
She does not respond to her father, and she remains keen on the boy.
12 Barî dûwem-îş, dûbare, kurrey han dedatewe ke bînêrinewe serî.
For the second time too, for the second time, she encourages the boy to send to ask for her hand again.
13 Barî dûwem-îş, debînî, babe her le/ be kurrey narrazî ye-w bew xanewadey narrazî ye-w nayda-w, dûbare barî sêwem-îşî [yête] ser.
And the second time, you see, the father is still unconvinced about the boy, and he is unconvinced about that family, and doesn’t let her go, then it is followed by a third attempt.
 14 Nebû, regełî dekewê.
(If she is) Not given away, she will run away with him.
15 Ege her nebû, regełî dekewê.
If she is not given away, she will run away with him.
16 Ema, êstake ewe kemrreng bûwe.
But this has now declined.
17 Ew şite, debînî, barî eweł nebû, barî dûwem ḥetmen le terîq keyxuda w mela w şêx û ew şitane, ser degirê.
That issue, you see, if the first attempt fails, the second attempt will succeed through some gentlemen, mullahs, sheikhs and such people.
18 Merrasîmêk pêk dênin ke ewe pêyan xoş e xizmayetî biken û pêk bên û
They arrange a ceremony as to show that they are happy to be related, and to accept the request, and
19 Duwaye-ş, debînî, eh/ ser degirê kareke le terîq mela w keyxuda w ew şitanewe.
And later, as you see, the attempt works through mullahs, gentlemen, and such peoples.
20 Debînî, ew dzar ke mare dekrê w
You see, this time she is married.
21 Ke mare kira, ew dzar eh/ şit dê w detsê w le terîq małe xezûrîyewe bo małe kitsey û şitî deben û
When she is married, then things come and go from the side of the family of the father-in-law to the family of the girl, and they offer gifts.
22 Duwaya, îḥtîmalen małe kitse-yş bitsin serdanêk le małe xezûrî, le małê xezûrî kurrey, biken û
Afterwards, the family of the girl may also go to visit the family of the father-in-law, the father-in-law of the boy, and
23 Xizmayetî nizîk debêtewe lew terîqey.
The relationship will get close that way.
24 Duwaya qerar û birryar dadenên ke eh/ şit bikirrin û şitî dzîyaz bo bûçê bikirrin û
Then they make the decision to purchase er/ goods, purchase a dowry for the bride.
25 Duwaya le małey bûçêwe çen şit dekirrrê bo/ bo zaway.
Then some things are bought by the bride’s family for the groom.
26 Seʕat îḥtîmalen seʕat, yan kiras ya her şitê ke pêyan ṣełah bê, dekirrin.
They buy a watch, for example, a watch, shirt or anything else they might think appropriate.
 27 R/ şiteha redd û bedeł dekirê.
Goods are exchanged.
28 Ewan bo/ detsine małê wê.
They visit them.
 29 Ewan detsinê.
They return visits.
30 Welê ziyatir małî zaway şit deben bo małî bûçê.
But mostly the family of the groom take gifts to the family of the bride.
31 Ziyatir ewan be îslaḥ hezîne deken, ta małî bûçê.
Mostly they, so to say, invest in expenses, rather than the family of the bride.
32 Le duway-îş da, debînî, rojêk dadenên bo ew gwêstinewe w bo ewane-w
And afterwards, they pick a date for taking her away and for such things, and
33 Qerar û birryar debirrêtewe-w kart/ kart denûsin û le xełik decêrrinewe w eh/ le şayî debê w be îslaḥ goranîbêj bang deken û
A decision is made, they write invitation cards/ cards, invite people, the wedding is arranged, singers are hired, and
34 Îḥtîmalen merrasî/ qe/ hełbete qedîm ew merrasîmane ḥefteyek tûlî dekêşa.
Possibly the ceremonies/ perhaps in the past those ceremonies had been continuing for a week.
35 Bawerr fermû, daykim deykut sê ḥefte-yş, carî wa bû heta bîs şew, sê ḥefte, bîs şew ziyatir tûlî kêşawe ew merrasîmane.
Believe me, my mother was saying those ceremonies had continued for even three weeks, sometimes up to twenty nights, three weeks, more than twenty nights.
 36 Ew xoşîyane her hebûne.
Such joy has always been had there.
37 Ema xoşîyekan ew dem ṣedaqetî ziyatir têda bû ta êstake.
Yet the pleasures were more genuine then than they are nowadays.
38 Êstake û/ eger rojêk-îş bê xoşîyeke, îḥtîmal e zahîrî bê.
Now the pleasure, even if it is for one day, is artificial.
39 Welî ew dem hertsî hebûwe rrû kirawe, hîç şitêk şarawe nekirawe.
Yet, whatever has been done then was open, nothing was done covertly.
40 Ema êstake zor şit şarawe debê.
But now most of the things are concealed.
41 Şitêk debê, şiteke zahîrsazî ye.
Whatever is done is pretend.
42 Ew dem xoşî xoş bûwe, welî debînî ta bîs şew/ bîs şew, dû ḥefte, sê ḥefte ew şayîye her hebûwe.
Then pleasures were joyous, but you see, the wedding had continued for twenty nights/ twenty nights, two weeks, or three weeks.
43 Ema êstake be daxewe bote/ kem botewe; bote rojêk.
But, unfortunately, now it is reduced; it has become one day.
44 Le rojêk da ew merrasîmane ser degirê w xoşî w şayî w hełperrçê w ewane.
Such ceremonies, pleasures, weddings and dancing take place in one day,
45 We îḥtîmalen kemtir-îş bêtewe, bête dzemêk ya ḥetta bête telefûnî-ş şiteke; way lê dêtewe.
And a further reduction to a part of a day, or even through the telephone is likely; this is happening.
 46 Ca ş/ serexoşî-ş her wa.
So, condolences too are same.
47 Serexoşî-ş, debînî, ba/ bawerr fermû min le bîrim dê mancêk serexoşî kirawe.
Commiserations, you see, believe me I remember condolences have been going on for a month.
48 Mancêk, dû mang xełik her hatûwe serexoşîy kirdûwe.
People have been coming to give condolences for a month or two months.
 49 Welî êstake ew/ ewdzekey/ ewdzekey dû roj e.
But nowadays it is two days maximum/ maximum.
 50 Kemtir-îş debêtewe êstake; ew-îş debête telefûnî.
Now it will be further shortened; it will be done on the telephone.
51 Ew şitane hebûn, welî qedîm baştir, yenî ṣadiqanetir dekira, welî êstake şiteke bote sûrî w zahîrî.
There have been such things, but in the past it was carried out better, that is to say more sincerely, but it became shallow and artificial now.
52 Bełam me/ merrasîm dest pê deka, şayî dest pê deka, çaweş bang dekirê.
However, the ceremony starts, the wedding starts, and singer is booked.
53 Be/ be zawayewe, be îslaḥ be bûk û zawayewe xizim detsin; şityan dedenê, gułyan dedenê, çû zanim, pûłyan dedenê.
Now the relatives go to visit the groom, now the bride and the groom; they present them with gifts, give them flowers, I don’t know, give them money.
54 Ew şitey ke be îslaḥ be erziş e, detsin pêyanewe deben.
They go, and give them what is thought to be valuable.
 55 Xezûr detsête kin bûkê.
The father-in-law goes to the bride.
56 Duwaya małe bûkê detsine kin zaway; şityan dedenê; pîrozbayîyan pê dełên.
And the family of the bride go to the groom; they give them presents; they pass on good wishes to them.
57 Dostekanyan detsin pîrozbayîyan pê dełên.
Their friends go to congratulate them.
58 Baştir û merrasimêkî dzuwan e; merrasimêkî dzuwan e ke îşeła ke ewe her berdewam bê.
It is a better and a beautiful ceremony, it is a beautiful ceremony; God be willing it will ever continue.
